CAROLYN ANN HERWICK, AUGUST 8, 1937--OCTOBER 2, 2008
Carolyn died peacefully in her sleep Oct. 2, 2008, at home after a long battle with cancer.
She was born Aug. 8, 1937, in Aspen, to Curtis and Anne SLAVENS. She attended school in Aspen and became a member of the ski team.
After graduation, she married Norman HERWICK Sept. 25, 1955, and became a member of the Eagles Ladies Auxiliary Aerie 595.
She worked as the secretary for the city of Aspen Streets Department for 20 years. When she retired, she moved to Grand Junction to care for her parents. In her spare time, she kept herself busy with skiing, hunting, fishing, rubber stamping, ceramics and cooking.
Survivors include son Tim (Susan) HERWICK of Basalt; granddaughters Leah and Kristin HERWICK of Oviedo, Fla.; aunt Mardelle PECJAK of Grand Junction; and numerous cousins.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donation be made in Carolyn's name to the American Cancer Society.
A rosary will be recited at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Aspen. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. Oct. 18 at the church. A reception will be held at the Aspen Elks Lodge immediately following the burial at Red Butte Cemetery.
