MRS. JOHN HOLLAND DIED IN HOSPITAL SATURDAY.
Mrs. John HOLLAND, life-long Eagle County resident and citizen of Wolcott for 43 years died in a Glenwood hospital Saturday following a short illness.
Mary Ellen CUNNINGHAM was born at Everett, Colorado Dec. 5, 1883 [sic Dec. 11, 1884] and spent her childhood in Gilman and Avon. Her parents were among the prominent early day county residents.
Dec. 28, 1910, she was married to John J. HOLLAND at Glenwood Springs and the couple made their home at Wolcott where Mr. HOLLAND was engaged in ranching until two years ago, when he retired. About a year ago Mr. and Mrs. HOLLAND moved to Eagle to live.
During Mrs. HOLLAND's lifetime she made a large circle of friends--working actively in community, political, school and club affairs. While Mrs. HOLLAND had been failing in health, recently she did not enter a hospital until the Wednesday before her death.
She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church at Eagle where services were held Tuesday morning at 10:00 o'clock.
Mrs. HOLLAND is survived by her husband; two daughters: Mrs. Eileen RANDALL, Eagle and Mrs. Margaret KUTZ, Englewood; two sons: John L., Wheatridge and William J. of Colorado Springs; two brothers: George CUNNINGHAM, of Kaysville, Utah and Roy CUNNINGHAM, Hollywood, Calif; and one sister: Mrs. Genevieve METCALF, Ellensworth, Wash. Ten grandchildren also survive.
Father Joseph LEBERER was in charge of the service. Arrangements were made by Farnum Mortuary of Glenwood. A Rosary Service was held at Bowman Funeral Chapel in Eagle Monday evening.
Burial was in the Eagle cemetery.
