Mrs. Walter (Eva) Hyrup 71 retired school teacher died Sunday at her home in Basalt. A native of Leadville she had been a resident of Basalt fo r53 years. She married Walter Hyrup at Basalt Nov. 30, 1921. He survives.

Mrs. Walter J. (Eva) Hyrup, 71, retired schoolteacher, died March 23 at her home in Basalt following a heart attack. A native of Leadville, she had been a resident of Basalt for 53 years. She was born Yvonne Marie Letey March 3, 1898. Her childhood was spent in Aspen and she graduated from the Aspen High School. She attended college in Greeley and there received a life certificate to teach school. She married Walter Hyrup at Basalt on Nov. 30, 1921. Mr. Hyrup, a retired rancher, survives. Mrs. Hyrup was a member of the St. Vincent Catholic Church in Basalt and of its Altar and Rosary Society. She was past direct president of American Legion Auxiliary, a member of Basalt library board, and of the Catholic Daughters of America at Glenwood Springs. Survivors include her husband; a son, John V. of Bsaalt; three daughters, Mrs. Wm. E. Grant of Placentia, A; Mrs. Donald Grand of Basalt, and Mrs. Harold F. Peuser of Paola, KS; a sister, Mrs. Albert Grange of Glenwood; 17 grandchildren.
