Ellen D. Lapierre of Glenwood Springs died Sunday in Valley View Hospital in Glenwood Springs after a brief illness. She was 77. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at the Farnum-Holt Funeral home with the Rev. James Cavendar officiating. She was cremated. Mrs. Lapierre was born June 3, 1914 to Silas H. and Rachael E. Cox Shannon in Wolcott. She was raised on the Trincherra Ranch in the San Luis Valley. She attended Adams State College for two years. She married Howard Lapierre in 1966. He died in 1968. Mrs. Lapierre was previously married to Buell Ross. They were divorced. She was a homemaker and also worked as a secretary. Mrs. Lapierre moved to Glenwood Springs in 1976. She enjoyed fishing and painting and was a member of the Eastern Star. Survivors include a son, Buell Ross of Alamosa, a granddaugther, Lori Marrinan of Alamosa; two great-grandchildren, Kelly Marrinan and Amy Marrinan both of Alamosa.
