Graveside funeral services for longtime Burns resident Ida May BEARDEN were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 21, at Pioneer Cemetery near McCoy.
Mrs. BEARDEN died Sunday, Aug. 18, at her home in the tiny community near the Eagle-Routt county line. Her death, at the age of 77, followed a lengthy illness.
Mrs. BEARDEN was born June 13, 1908, at Leadville, where she later attended public schools. Mrs. BEARDEN also spent some of her younger years in the Squaw Creek area south of Edwards, where her parents homesteaded.
She was married Aug. 28, 1934, in Eagle to Raymond Charles BEARDEN. Mr. and Mrs. BEARDEN soon settled in Burns, where they continued to make their home for the past 50 years.
Mrs. BEARDEN was a retired assistant postmaster for the Burns community.
Surviving, in addition to her husband, are a son, Ross BEARDEN of Burns; a daughter, Edith LEDERHAUSE of Eagle; and seven grandchildren.
The Rev. Steve GOODIER, pastor of the Community United Methodist Churches in Eagle and Gypsum, officiated at Wednesday afternoon's funeral rites. Farnum-Richardson Mortuary of Glenwood Springs was in charge of arrangements.
Memorial contributions are being accepted by Children's Hospital in Denver for handicapped children.
