Joleene Kay Shelley Alberts, a homemaker and Edwards, Colo. resident for more than 30 years, died Jan. 7 at the Vail Valley Medical Center in Vail, Colo. of cardiac problems.
Born in Gothenburg, Neb., Aug. 8, 1934, she was preceeded in death by her mother, Allie Alkire Shelley and father, David Shelley, and her brother James Edmonds Shelley, killed in North Africa during World War II.
She is survived by her husband, Jesse, of Edwards; brother Russell W. Shelley of Laramie, Wyo.; sisters Opal Cummings of Greeley, Colo., Donna Slack of Gothenburg, Neb., Phyllis Thompson of Blair, Neb., and Alta Buckingham of Portland, Ore.
A private memorial service was held at the Alberts' home Jan. 10 in Edwards, performed by longtime family friend, Curtis Walker.
Mrs. Alberts' ashes were distributed, per her request, at the Alberts' property, Monday, Jan. 12.
