TWO OLD TIMERS BURIED THIS WEEK

MRS WM. P MAYER: C T DEAR ING PASSED AWAY CORA B. MAYER Funeral services were held in Eagle Wednesday for Cora Belle Mayer, Widow of Wm. P Mayer, prominent Eagle county rancher Mrs Mayer, who was 85 years of age died July 25 in the home she and her late husband had established 54 years -ago bn the Mayer Ranch on Brush Creek, just south of Eagie. Funeral services were held Wednesday in the Eagle Methodist Church, the church Mrs Mayer and her family had helped to build into a modern building. A year ago, with other members of her family she bought and presented to the church an electric organ. Cora Belle Wis« was born Feb. 17- 1870 at Newton, Missouri to Elias and Elmira Wise, one of three children. Her childhood was spent in Kansas and Missouri. In 1887 Miss Wise was married to William Perry Mayer in Cherokee County, Kansas and in 1901 moved to Eagle to the present Mayer ranch, -adjoining the town of Eagle on the south. During the 54 years Mrs Mayer lived here, she was extremely active in church affairs, and until recent months kept her beloved flower garden, which was one of the show gardens of the community. After the death of her .husband in 1934 Mrs Mayer remained on the ranch, managed toy their son, Chester. Advancing .=ge curtailed her activities in the community during the past months, and until then her interest was keen in activities concerning school and young people. Mrs Mayer was a member of the Methodist Church, the American Legion Auxiliary at Gypsum and the Women’s Society of Christian (Service. She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Rena E. Chatfield, who died in January, 1954 and a grandson, Lloyd, who died February 1953. She is survived by three sons; Leßdy C• of (Delta, Carl F of Phoenix, Arizona and Chester I* of Eagle; a foster sister, Mrs Eva Davis of Kingman. Kansas; six grandchildren and 13 great-grand children. The Famum Mortuary of Glen wood Springs was in charge of funeral arrangements. Reverend Delbert Paulson, former Eagle minister and close friend of the Mayer family came from Golden to conduct the service. Mrq Lois Anderson was vocalist at the service, accompanied on the began, by Derma Louise Chambers.
