Jeannette Kiley Buchholz, a long-time Eagle resident, died on Aug. 18, 2005, in Denver, Colo. She was 100 years old. Jeannette was born in Leadville, Colo. on March 23, 1905. She attended Buena Vista Public Schools and graduated from the University of Colorado in 1926, where she was a member of Alpha Phi Fraternity. She married Nicholas Buchholz, a member of an early pioneer family of Eagle, in 1928. She taught school in Breckenridge and in the Eagle Public Schools. She was county Superintendent of Schools of Eagle County.

Buchholz was an accomplished pianist and gave piano lessons to many children in Eagle. She was a member of professional teaching and administrative groups. While living in Eagle, she was an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Throughout her life, she maintained ties to and friendships in Eagle.

She is survived by her four children (all raised in Eagle): Mary Lynn Winfrey of Englewood, Colo.; JoAnn Cramer of Denver, Colo.; John (Donna) Buchholz of Carefree, Ariz.; and Jetty (Joe) Stockel of Rockville, Mary. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and one great-great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her husband, Nicholas, and son-in-law, John Cramer.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Louis Catholic Church in Englewood on Aug. 22. Mass and burial at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Eagle was held on Aug. 23, 2005.
