Word was received in Eagle Saturday morning of the death of Lee BUCHHOLZ at Vancouver, Wash., early that morning.
Mr. Buchholz, in company with his wife, had left Eagle for the west coast to be with their sons and daughters about three weeks ago, hoping that a change in climate would be of benefit to his health; but death came, as a result of a weak heart and a sever asthmatic condition, shortly after midnight Friday, December 26, in St. Joseph's hospital, where he had been taken two days previous.
With his passing goes another very well known pioneer of Eagle county--the name of Buchholz has been one to reckon with in the affairs of the county for well over half a century.
Lee Francis Buchholz was born to Nicholas and Molly O. Buchholz in Quincy, Ill., February 23, 1878. He moved with his parents and two brothers and two sisters to Colorado, when he was quite young, settling in Eagle county on what is known as Buchholz Mesa, north of Eagle.
As a young man he served the government as forest ranger in this vicinity. He was married to Myrtie Brewster, and to this union were born two sons and two daughters--John, of Bonneville, Ore., Carvel, of Woodland, Wash., Virginia and Evelyn, both of Skamania, Wash.--all of whom were present at their father's bedside when death came.
Lee will be missed by more than one in this community. Despite the poor health he had suffered for several years past due to asthma, he was able to be around most of the time, and scores of friends will miss him. They join in extending their sympathy to the bereaved family.
He is survived by one sister, Hannah JOHNSTON, and a brother, James O. BUCHHOLZ, of Eagle; his widow and four children, three grandsons, and three granddaughters, two nieces, Frances GAMBLE and Buelah BUCHHOLZ, of Eagle, and four nephews, Tom GAMBLE and Nicholas E. BUCHHOLZ of Eagle; William JOHNSTON of Skull Creek, and Leo GAMBLE of Kremmling.
Mr. Buchholz will be buried in Vancouver, Wash.
