A. J. BETZ, former Eagle County man, died suddenly Sunday, June 26, following a heart attack near Marble.
He was stricken as he accompanied his son Bud on an inspection trip of their equipment at a quarry on Yule Creek. The two men had left the car together, and the elder BETZ had fallen behind his son. When the younger man failed to see his father following him, he turned back, to find him unconscious in the road. First aid failed to revive him.

The couple lived at their ranch on Gore creek, where Mr. BETZ prospected for ore and fascinated by mining he prospected around Red Cliff and Battle Mountain. In 1936 he and his family moved to Marble, following the mining game until he died. He had planned a large scale development of his properties in the Marble country in July. During the war he mined strategic metals for the government.
Mr. BETZ's parents were pioneers of Colorado, who came to this state in ox carts. He is survived by his widow, Benarda and daughter, Judith Ann of Marble; a son, C. A. BETZ of Glenwood Springs; a daughter, Carol SNIDER of Silt and five grandchildren; also his mother, Mrs. Anna BETZ; sister, Mrs. Louis CLIFFORD; brother, L. J. BETZ all of Pamona [sic.
