EAGLE RESIDENT COLE C. BLACK DIED IN GLENWOOD.
Cole C. BLACK, a 93-year-old retired rancher and a resident of Eagle since 1906, died at 2:50 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 7, 1972 in Glenwood's Valley View Hospital after an illness of six months.
Services were scheduled for 2 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 10, at the Eagle Methodist Church, with Rev. O. Gregory SMITH officiating. Burial will be at Sunset View Cemetery; I.O.O.F. Crown Lodge No. 146 of Gypsum will conduct graveside services.
BLACK was born on November 24, 1878 at Concordia, Kans., and he spent his childhood at Fordland, Mo. On February 11, 1915, he married the former Dorothy WARD in Denver; she survives.
BLACK, who came to Eagle from Missouri, also lived in Carbondale and Littleton during the past two years. He was a member of I.O.O.F. Crown Lodge in Gypsum.
Survivors include four sons, Warren C. BLACK of Eagle, Dexter A. BLACK of Gateway, Karma C. BLACK of Englewood, and Neil W. BLACK of Carbondale; one daughter, Mrs. Fred (Barbara) HILL of Littleton; a sister, Birdie PUTMAN of West Wardsboro, Vermont; 17 grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
