"DOC" BOAN DIES IN RIFLE.
Graveside Services were conducted last week at the Sunset View Cemetery in Eagle for Clarence (Doc) BOAN. Rev. BUCKWORTH officiated.
Clarence BOAN was born Sept. 12, 1896 in Vernal, Utah. He died March 15 in Rifle, Colo. following a lingering illness. Mr. BOAN was a rancher and stockman in Vernal until 1946. At that time, he bought a home in Eagle and spent his remaining years here.
Doc BOAN never married. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilson Brian BOAN and Lilly BRADNEY BOAN; two brothers, Joe BOAN and Henry BOAN, and a sister, Ruby BOAN KURTZ.
He is survived by a sister, Becky BOAN MORRIS; two nephews, W. H. KURTZ and Glen KURTZ of Vernal; and four nieces, Rose KURTZ, Katherine BOAN CHRISTIANSON, Alice LOWE WORGULL, and Mae BOAN.
Commitment at the funeral services was performed by the Odd Fellows Lodge of Gypsum, by Chaplain William STANLEY and Noble Grand Edmund BOBSON. Pallbearers were Art SUTTON, Glenn SCHMIDT, Glen McKENNA, and L.E. NOLAN. Honorary pallbearers were Marion BAKER, Floyd BEARD, Ralph HOYT, Robert CARTER, Charles GALPIN, and Jim PHILLIPS.
Out-of-town friends and relatives attending the services were Mr. and Mrs. W.H. KURTZ, Mr. and Mrs. Glen KURTZ, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne KURTZ, Miss Rose KURTZ, and Mrs. Frank Caudle, all of Vernal and Mary BOAN of Ventura, Cal. George and Dess MATHEWS served lunch for the relatives and friends of their old friend, Doc BOAN.
