Long time former Gypsum resident Edmund Sigurd BOBSON died of natural causes on July 25 at his home in Grand Junction. He was 74.
Mr. BOBSON was born March 28, 1919 in Gypsum to Sigurd and Anna (Ryden) BOBSON. He spent his childhood in Gypsum and graduated from Eagle County High School in 1936. He attended Colorado State University at Fort Collins and later served over three years in the South Pacific with the U.S. Army Air Force. On May 24, 1948 he married Rozella CAYWOOD in a ceremony at Elko, Nevada.
He was a rancher for over 60 years and also resided in Pasco, Wash. and Thatcher, Ariz., before moving to Grand Junction in 1992.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking and working with machinery. He was a member of the I.O.O.F. Lodge and the American Legion Post in Gypsum.
Survivors included: his wife, Rosella BOBSON of Grand Junction; his mother Anna Ryden BOBSON of Carbondale; sons Raymond E. BOBSON of Eagle, and Steven S. BOBSON of Gypsum; daughter Greta M. BOBSON of Irving, Tex., and sister Betty Lou ALBERTSON of Gypsum, as well as six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Alvin G. BOBSON.
Services were held at Mount of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church, with Rev. Jeff HANSON officiating. Private burial was at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Gypsum.
