WALTER CHADWICK DIED IN MONTROSE SATURDAY.
Walter L. Chadwick, 54, formerly of Minturn, died September 11 at Valley manor Nursing Home, Montrose after a lengthy illness.
The son of Mr. and Mrs. Arron [Aaron] L. Chadwick, he was born August 18, 1911 at Bakerfield, Oregon.
He spent his childhood in New Castle, CO where he attended school. He married Gotha Mildred Corder at St. Charles, Arkansas, February 7, 1933. He ranched until 1942 when he went to work for D&RG Railroad at Minturn.
He is survived by his wife Gotha; and five children: Lawrence E. Chadwick Minturn; Mrs. Janus Cook and Mrs. Faye Harrison of Montrose; Mrs. Sue Smaller, Leadville, and Mrs. Ulene Newby of Sunnymeade, Cal. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and six brothers and sisters: William of Michigan; James of Montana; Mrs. Emma Gaines of St. Charles, Ark; Mrs. Vera Martin of Hornersville, Mo.; Mrs. Nona Collett of Grand Junction and Mrs. Beatrice Williams of Denver.
The funeral was conducted by Rev. Lynn E Wickstrom in the Assembly of God Church in Minturn September 15, with interment at the Minturn cemetery. Burial was in charge of Valley Funeral Home, W.B. Sumner, director, Montrose.
Pallbearers were Leonard Leidy, Leonard Ruder, Clem Moreland, Clarence Smaller, Oatman Gordon, and Howard Moore.
