Death came to Moulton CHAMBERS at the age of 75, in St. Mary's Hospital in Grand Junction early Thanksgiving Day morning, Nov.24. Mr. CHAMBERS had been in failing health for several months, with a heart condition. Just prior to his death he had made arrangements for a trip to Canada and Alaska but cancelled it on the advice of his doctor.
A pioneer citizen of Western Colorado, Mr. CHAMBERS lived in the Eagle vicinity most of his adult life. He worked for the old Ed Glenn merchandise store, bought a meat market there; served as County Assessor for ten years and operated the George Wilkinson ranch on Brush Creek before moving to Grand Junction. In 1914 he married Edna WILKINSON, and to this union were born two sons, who died in infancy.
During a long and varied career Mr. CHAMBERS worked for stores, lumber firms, banks, and mining firms at Red Cliff, Durango, and Leadville.
He was born near Boulder in 1885 where his father operated a quarry. He accompanied his family to Leadville in 1893 and graduated from high school there in 1907. In 1941 Mr. and Mrs. CHAMBERS sold the Wilkinson Ranch on Brush Creek to Deems & Taylor, and moved to Grand Junction. Mrs. CHAMBERS passed away in 1956.
Funeral services were conducted by Reverend H. C. MOORHEAD at the Eagle Methodist Church Saturday afternoon and burial was in the family plot at Sunset View Cemetery. Pallbearers were J.D. ALLEN, Ray CHATFIELD, Gene K. LUBY, Hans LARSEN, Charles EATON, and Ralph BELDING.
