DAVID "PETE" DODO DIES.
David "Pete" DODO, a lifelong Western Slope rancher, died Wednesday at the E. Dene Moore Care Center. He was 96.
He was born Oct. 4, 1908, at the family home in Peach Valley to Mickeal and Irene (Coneglia) DODO. DODO began his ranching career in 1917 with his father and brothers in New Castle. Later he operated ranches in Avon and Silt.
He married Rachel WAGNER on Dec. 14, 1935, in Glenwood Springs.
DODO was a member of the Eagle County Cattlemen's Association, serving as president from 1950-51. He was also a member of the Holy Cross Cattlemen's Association.
He also served on the school board in Eagle County for 7 1/2 years and served 15 years on the Agriculture Stabilization and Conservation Service Committee for Eagle and Garfield counties.
DODO loved Hereford cattle, good horses and his dogs, friends and family say.
Survivors include son Ronald DODD [sic] and wife Shirley of Silt; daughter Lynne McCRAY of Silt; grandchildren Kelly DODO of Denver, Peter DODD [sic] of Colorado Springs, Wendy McCRAY of Denver, and Wayne McCRAY and wife Tina of Silt; great-grandchildren Amanda, Lane and Cody McCRAY of Silt; many nieces and nephews; and numerous friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, son Howard DODO, four sisters and four brothers.
A graveside service is at 11 a.m. Monday at the Union Divide Creek Cemetery in Silt, with the Rev. Jim WARN officiating. Rifle Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
