Graveside services for Martin H. Eichler were held at Sunday May 4 at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Gypsum. Rev. David Ferguson officiated. The Sowder Funeral Home of Rifle was in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Eichler was born Marin Heinrich Eichler the son of Karl Heinrich Otto and and Anna Clara Hahnewald Eichler, on November 8, 1897, at Dresden, Germany an dpassed away in a Pueblo hospital on May 1, 1975. Mr. Eichler was educated in German schools and grew to manhood in his native country. He came to the US in 1914 and to the Leadville Community. After a short stay in Leadville, he came to Eagle County where has since made his home. Mr. Eichler was united in marriage with Emma Schuch in Denver on June 4, 1917. Mr and Mrs. Eichler ranched in the Avon community for several years before buying their ranch on Brush Creek near Eagle in 1946, which they ranched until retirement in 1965. In October 1972 they moved to Gypsum. Mr. Eichler was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and a sister. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Eichler; two sons, Vincent of Gypsum and Lloyd of Eagle; a daughter, Ben (Mildred) Wurtsmith of Burns; a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth Simmchen of Dresden, Germany; 9 grandchildren, 2 great-grandsons and other relatives and friends.
