Funeral services for Frank F. GATES were held Tuesday, Aug. 11, at the Eagle Baptist Church. He died Aug. 8 in Gypsum.
Frank Foster GATES was born on Nov. 4, 1902, to George Albert and Atha Nonetta GATES at the family ranch near Burns.
He received his elementary education in a rural school near the ranch, and he later attended Colorado A & M in Fort Collins. GATES then became a cattle rancher.
On Oct. 3, 1926, he was united in marriage with Goldie Lorraine SCHURR in Glenwood Springs. The couple made their home in the Burns community.
GATES attended the Baptist Church and for many years was a member of the Burns Hole Cattlemen's Association, the Colorado Cattleman's Association and the Farm Bureau.
He was preceded in death by a grandson, Donald DAVENPORT; two brothers, James and Elbert; and a sister, Ruth ALBERTSON.
Survivors include his wife, Goldie GATES; a son and daughter-in-law, George and Margie GATES of Burns; four daughters, Mrs. Dean (June) BRUNNER of Steamboat Springs, Mrs. Arthur (Helen) DAVENPORT and Mrs. Jack (Loretta) RIGGAN both of Gypsum, and Mrs. Dave (Laura) CLAIR of Montrose; a brother, Lemley of Glenwood Springs; four sisters, Mrs. Mary WURTSMITH, Mrs. Orris (Berta) ALBERTSON and Mrs. Joe (Marie) ALBERTSON, all of Burns, and Mrs. Gene (Edith) GROVES of Quartzite, Ariz.; 18 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Rev. Bruce DUNSDON officiated at the funeral, and the burial took place at Cedar Hill Demetery in Gypsum.
Friends who wish may make memorial contributions to the Open Door Baptist Church in care of Rev. Russell FOX, Gypsum.

Mr. GATES died Aug. 8 in Gypsum.
