EVALYN BROWN: 1915-1987

Evalyn Caroline Brown, 72, of Plateau City died on Saturday, April 11, 1987, at Plateau Valley Clinic in Collbran following a lengthy illness.
Graveside services were held at Mesa-Molina Cemetery at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, April 14. Officiating was the Rev. Bill Bryan. In charge of services was the McLean Funeral Home of Palisade.
Born on Feb 15, 1915, at Dunckley, Evalyn was the daughter of Roy S. and Nancy Widger Dunckley. She spent her childhood near Victor, Kan., where she had moved with her parents when she was 1 year old.
She attended schools in Mitchell County, Kan., where she received her teaching degree. She taught in that county for three years.
Evalyn returned to Colorado in 1936. On Dec 14, 1937, she married Howard H. Brown. They lived in Steamboat Springs, Loma, Fruita and Grand Junction before moving to Plateau City six years ago. Her interests included her home, family, gardening and flowers.
She leaves her widower; her mother, Nancy Davis of Fruita; one daughter, Joanne M. Taylor of Collbran; one son, James H. Brown of La Porte; three sisters, Ruby Rogers of Plateau City, Wilma Frost of Craig and Dorothy Pearcy of Fort Collins; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She also leaves five nieces, four nephews, a great-aunt and two great-uncles.
