Description

This collection includes photographs of grave markers and tombstones located in the Greenwood Cemetery in Red Cliff, Colorado. The photographs were taken by JoAnn Potter Riggle in 1996. Greenwood Cemetery has grave markers dating back to the Civil War. The first grave dug there was for the body Sylvester J. Linsley. The cemetery at that time was known as the Evergreen Cemetery Hill. Greenwood Cemetery is often toured every couple by members of the Eagle County Historical Society who lead tour groups through the cemetery and present the history of some of the individuals buried in the cemetery. About 290 grave markers have been photographed. Also included are photographs taken during a 2009 tour of the cemetery.
